Class of 2020 Graduation Information
Thank you all for your patience during these very uncertain times. As we have deliberated on these decisions regarding the Class of 2020, we have tried to come up with the best plan for everyone involved. We have reviewed the survey results, consulted with the Superintendent, School Board, and the Grant County Health Department before making a final plan for graduation.
As announced earlier, Graduation will be held on June 5, 2020. Graduation will begin at 7:30PM. The graduation ceremony will be held in the west parking lot of the school. Each family will be allowed one car at the graduation ceremony, including the graduate in the car. All persons will remain in their car during the ceremony until it is time for the graduates to receive their diplomas. Graduates will be called from their cars a row at a time to process across the stage to receive their diplomas. We will have spaces marked on the ground six feet apart for the graduates to wait until they are called across the stage to receive their diplomas.
Upon arrival Grant County Sheriff Deputies will be onsite to assist with parking. Each car will be given a number that will correspond to a parking spot in the back lot. The parking spaces have been pre-assigned alphabetically so it will be easier to distribute diplomas. The cars will be parked with a space in between them to promote appropriate social distancing recommendations from the CDC. We are asking that everyone arrive in enough time for everyone to be parked and ready to go by 7:30PM.
We will have the stage set up on the backside of the gym where Valedictorian and Salutatorian will give their speeches from along with the address from the superintendent. The graduation will also be live streamed so those unable to attend can watch the graduation live. The ceremony will also be recorded for those unable to join the live stream.
In the event of rain, we will move the stage inside the gym and bring the students in a row at time through the back gym doors so they may process across the stage to receive their diplomas. We will also proceed with the speeches from inside the gym that you will be able to see and hear via the live stream.
There will be a photographer onsite to capture each senior with their diploma and we will also be incorporating abbreviated senior awards and baccalaureate into the evening.
We understand that this plan is not a traditional graduation and not a perfect solution. However, with the uncertainty of what is ahead of us, we feel that this plan provides the best option for us at this time. This plan allows for everyone to participate in graduation and get ready to move on to the next phase of their life after high school.
